Who we are at High Point Church

We are a church plant, a small dedicated group of believers who are trusting Christ to build His church. We aren’t a ‘full service’ church, but as we grow we will be able to meet additional needs.

There are advantages to being involved in a church plant. You get to come in on the ground floor so to speak. It is a great privilege to take ownership of a work like this where every pair of hands is needed. Things are new and fresh here, we certainly are not bogged down in decades of tradition. Religious tradition grows like barnacles on the hull of a boat. But, in a church plant you don’t have folks saying, “Hey, we have always done things in such in such a way.” Praise God, instead of being bound to tradition, we can listen to Christ in His Word and take our orders from our sovereign Lord and Savior. And, see what exciting things He will do as we are yielded to Him.

We are committed to our Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel. And, we are seeking to reach a lost a dying world with the glorious message of life in Christ. Every true believer here this morning is an ambassador of Christ; an ambassador of reconciliation, a representative of Christ’s coming Kingdom. That is one of the blessings of being involved in a church plant, it’s all hands-on-deck, a Christian work without spectators. That of course is Christ’s pattern for His church, we strive to be a church that is an ‘every member ministry’.

At High Point Church, the sky is limit in regard to ministry possibilities here. We believe that as the Lord brings believers here who love serving, new ministries will emerge. Pastor Pete and myself have seen this dynamic wherever we have served. God brings gifted motivated people to a local body, and He brings their ministry vision with them.

Please bear with an analogy: the local church is a pentagon where we plan our battle strategy our outreach strategy as soldiers of Christ. The church is a mission agency, a sending agency in which all of us are sent out into the world with the truth of the gospel. The church is a family in which we are members of one another; our deep care for one another makes the love of Christ visible. The local church is school in which instruction, equipping, and training in righteousness take place (in the things of God). The church is also a temple wherein corporate worship takes place. And the church is a kind of hospital in which Christ, the Great Physician has the only cure for the sin disease. He alone has the remedy, and He alone is the remedy for sin.

Imagine a spotless newly built hospital. What if the staff said we would like to keep it that way, so please do not admit the seriously sick, the dying, the diseased, and the injured. Absurd you say? How many churches today are welcoming, even seeking the sin-sick, those with the terminal sin disease yet untreated, those whose lives are mangled by sin?

A day is soon coming in which those who have served Christ and followed Him will hear well done. Here at High Point it is our duty and privilege to preach the infallible Word of God. For only the Holy Scriptures can give the saving knowledge of God and place us in touch with His will. We are involved in one another’s lives here, doing our part in helping our brothers and sisters in Christ progress toward spiritual maturity.
