Weekend Conference Schedule Theme: Confronting The Spiritual Confusion For Students and Adults

First Keynote Presentation: How to Think Biblically – by David Barton (This is a new talk)

David will apply a Biblical worldview today’s biggest headlines topics. Drawing from history, David Barton will cover how Christians must have a right view of God’s Word, accept that it is inspired, accept that it is right every time and understand that it may not make sense, but it will be proven right.:

David will also explain that Christians must accept that God’s word gives guidance on every subject, (2 Timothy 3:16-17) and if you do, you will be successful.

David will also challenge us to commit ourselves to reading and studying the Bible and look for practical applications and understand the nature of God while understanding the sinful nature of ma

Second Keynote Presentation: Mass Exodus: Why Young People are leaving the Church and who is to Blame

Why are 88% of young people from the Southern Baptist Churches denying their faith before they graduate from college? Why do denominational leaders across the board report that 69% to 94% are leaving the traditional church after they graduate from high school and not returning?

Could the answer be that these young people are leaving traditional churches and not returning because they are not Christians but false converts? What does this mass exodus say about what is being taught in today’s churches? What does the Bible have to say about false converts and true converts?

Several informal, public polls have revealed a large number of Christian adults revealed that they thought they were a Christian when in high school or college only to learn later that they were a false convert. What Biblical teaching did these adults encounter that revealed their false conversion and thus lead them to true repentance and salvation? What was going on within their churches and/or homes that fostered this false conversion?

What can we learn from these former false converts that will help us stop this dangerous trend?

The book of First John was written “that you may know you have eternal life”. What are the 10 hallmarks of every Christian as revealed in the book of First John? How can youth pastors, senior pastors and parents and grandparents use this information in the church and in their homes so they might cultivate true followers of Christ?

p. 2

Despite being raised in a Christian home, Bible teaching church and even a Christian school, Brannon was a false convert until he was an adult. How did Brannon’s praying of the “sinner’s prayer” at the age of five and being baptized at the age of seven set him up for a false conversion?

As a father of three young children, what are Brannon and his wife Melissa doing to prevent a false conversion in their children? What have Brannon and Melissa learned from God’s Word that has given them peace that they don’t need to rush their young children into saying the “sinner’s prayer”, walking the aisle and being baptized at an early age?

Third Keynote Presentation: A Biblical View of Global Warming – David Barton

The Global Warming issue has dominated scientific debate and media news for the past decade, and many political measures are now being crafted to deal with the issue. Does the Bible address environmental issues such as Global Warming? Absolutely. Discover a Biblical view for many of today’s environmental issues Fourth Keynote Presentation: The Emergent Church in their Own Words - Pastor Jason Carlson

My initial entrance into the emergent church conversation came about seven years ago while I was a student in seminary. During my interactions with my friends from Emergent, I was challenged both intellectually and spiritually through what I encountered, and I was really forced to wrestle with what I believe and hold dear. Over the course of about three years of fairly regular interaction with members of Emergent and participation in many of their gatherings and events, I became increasingly concerned over what I believe are serious deviations from biblical truth taking place within the Emergent “conversation” (how they refer to the movement).

How did I make it out of my time in Emergent to return to a solid Christian worldview? I owe it all to my parents who raised me with a deep appreciation and respect for God’s word and the truth it reveals. For as far back as I can remember, my parent’s trained me in a biblical Christian worldview. I was taught from a very young age to test all things by God’s word and I was regularly exposed to the writings and teachings of great Christian apologists and theologians like Josh McDowell, Norman Geisler, Ken Ham, and Walter Martin. Through reading solid Christian scholars and attending numerous high quality Christian worldview-training conferences, like Worldview Weekend, I was equipped with the tools I would need later in life to discern truth from error.

Parents, you cannot take lightly the influence that a godly, biblically based upbringing can have on your children! Each generation will be faced with their share of trials, tribulations, and errors which threaten the integrity of the church, but when our young people are raised up with a firm foundation in God’s truth, they will be able to discern truth from error and will have the tools they’ll Friel need to overcome any challenge to their faith.

In this presentation Jason Carlson will explain the unbiblical nature of the emergent church and its threat to your church and family by quoting the emergent church leaders in great detail.

Fifth Keynote Presentation: Understanding The Postmodern Worldview That is Destroying America and Millions of Churches (Part One) - By Dr. David Noebel

p. 3

Two of the most read authors by America’s college students are postmodern founders Friedrich Nietzsche and Michel Foucault. The worldview of postmodernism is every where you turn. We are now living in a post-modern world. Postmodernism is now represented in the church through the “Emergent Church” who call themselves “Christian Postmodernism.”

This two part presentation by Dr. David Noebel is critical if you want to truly understand the times, the culture and the future.

Postmodernists insist there is no eternal truth or truth that is true around the world. Truth for some Postmodernists is what their community allows each member to say is true, or as one Postmodernists said, truth is whatever his colleagues or peers allow him to get away with believing or saying.

Postmodernism is a continuation of Marxist ideas, namely atheism, socialism, punctuated evolution, and the socially constructed self, among others.

Nietzsche proclaimed that there was no need for the foolish belief of God. Both Nietzsche and Foucault predicted that with postmodernism would come a period of violence, death, destruction, and ultimately the end of humanity itself. Both Nietzsche and Foucault agree that after humanity kills God, they sign their own death certificate.

Millions of kids from “Christian” homes and churches are being eaten alive by this worldview that most pastors, youth pastors, Sunday school teachers and parents don’t even begin to understand. But understand this; postmodernism is the pre-dominate worldview of today’s generation and unless you understand this worldview you will find it very difficult to prepare your children and grandchildren for the worldview war that is claiming 88% of our youth upon graduation from high school.

Ask most Christians what they know about hermeneutics and they will probably ask, "Herman Who?" Spend 75 minutes with us and you will receive a condensed 16-week master's level education on how to read the Bible right. You will never read the Bible the same way again . . . and you will never have the wool pulled over your eyes by a false teacher.

Paul told Timothy (and us) to "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." By studying this course, you will be equipped to rightly divide the Word of Truth and read the Bible right.

Here's what "Herman Who?" attendees have to say:

"These principles are a must for anyone desiring a truthful understanding of the Bible." — Robert P. "I’ve read a lot of books about proper interpretation but this presentation was in a league by itself. Without a doubt, it was the best investment I've ever made into accurately understanding and applying the Word of God. Todd breaks down an enormous amount of information into an understandable, useful format anyone can do - it's like taking an entire Seminary class in just a few hours! I loved it, and use it every day in my walk with Christ." - Laura A.

Seventh Keynote Presentation – Understanding the Postmodern Worldview that is Destroying America and Millions of Churches (Part 2) - Dr. David Noebel Eighth Keynote Presentation: Crisis in the Church: Confronting the Spiritual Confusion - Ron Carlson The American church is in a code blue crisis. There has been a huge falling away from traditionally held Biblical truths in countless churches, Christian colleges and seminaries as occult, cult and mystical practices have become widely accepted. Sadly, many Christians can not draw upon Biblical truth to refute and expose the unbiblical practices that their children, extended-family members, friends and church members now accept as a means by which to “experience” truth or “encounter” God.

In this cutting-edge presentation, Jason Carlson reveals the unbiblical and dangerous trends that are creating a spiritual crisis in the American church. Once well-known evangelical churches now offer “Christian Yoga classes. “Christian” authors write best-selling books that encourage Christians to practice contemplative prayer or transcendental meditation. The prosperity gospel has never been more popular with the rise of such authors as Joel Osteen. The Emergent Church and its theology of pluralism and universalism are vying for the hearts and minds of millions of adults and students.

Don’t miss this presentation as Jason Carlson covers these four topics:

  1. Contemplative Prayer/Transcendental Meditation
  2. “Christian” Yoga
  3. The Prosperity Gospel
  4. Universalism

Doctrine is Not Boring But a Strong Mooring – Brannon Howse

In January of 2006, I was asked to teach on four Sunday nights to my church youth group. The first night we had 42 teens when they only expected 15. I began the first week by laying out what Biblical doctrine was and why it was important. Surely this would be a great way to drop the number from 42 to 0 for the next Sunday night right? Wrong! My topic held the teens for the entire 4 weeks. At the conclusion of the four weeks they asked if they could return in 2008 to continue were we left off.

In this presentation I will present 11 reasons why teens must begin to take Biblical doctrine seriously right now.

Please understand, I am not talking about arguing the side-bar issues of the faith such as speaking in tongues or if Jesus Christ is returning before the tribulation, in the middle or at the end. When I speak of doctrine I am talking about that which Jesus taught in his earthly ministry.

Join me as I reveal how you can use doctrine to understand the will of God for your life and gain discernment at what is perhaps the greatest time of confusion in the world.

The Jesus of the Cults – Jason Carlson

In Matthew chapter 24, Jesus’ disciples came to him and asked, “Tell us, what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” In responding to this question, it’s interesting what Jesus identified as the foremost sign of his second coming and of the end of the age, “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”

Today we are seeing the fulfillment of this warning sign as never before. Our world is literally flooded with false Cults promoting their own man-made version of “Jesus Christ” who is NOT the real Jesus of the Bible.

The more you study the false cults, the more you realize that the “Jesus” of the cults is not the Jesus of the Bible. All of the cults promote their own false, man-made versions of Jesus Christ; they are counterfeits and cannot save anyone.
